This is an unusual color morph. This is an updated color morph. The eyes are black, and the body matures to a golden yellow with black marbling. Gars are solitary fish that appear docile and slow, but are fierce ambush predators. They are opportunistic night predators, predominantly piscivores, although they may also ambush and consume waterfowl and small mammals floating on the surface.
